The Brainerd Lakes Outreach Program is a compassionate humanitarian organization dedicated to providing essential food assistance.
We have an unwavering mission of feeding our Minnesota neighbors. Located in the Brainerd Lakes area (Nisswa), our vision is that 80-90% of the meals we package will be distributed within a 60-80 mile radius of Nisswa. The remaining 10-20% can be distributed to greater Minnesota, used for disaster relief and/or distributed internationally.

We package 10 different meals that are nutrient dense, including protein, vitamins, and minerals. They only require 3-8 cups of boiling water, and each packet contains 6 servings.

Today was a Beautiful day to pack meals!
Thank you Salem Lutheran Church of Deerwood for coordinating a meal packing event with our congregation.
Pastor Amanda had a great sermon today, a baby was baptized during worship, and when worship was done, ~60 members from Salem packed 10,368 meals!
We traditionally packed the 6
different foods today (apple rice, Spanish rice, cheesy rice, macaroni and cheese, tomato Basil pasta) but instead of boxing the foods like we typically do, we did something unique.
All year long we work with Salem West, a ministry out of this church.
They provide new beds, dressers, linens, kitchen supplies etc to families or individuals that need a fresh start. Our part of that ministry is that each time Salem blesses a family, they also receive a mixed box
of our shelf stable meals to fill their
cupboards.
Today we placed 5 of each of those foods the congregation packed into a mixed box. 5 bags x 6 types = 30 bags into the box.
Jason, an amazing guy that is the executive director of that program, will haul those boxes back over the The Mustard Seed of Deerwood Thrift & Gifts for storage until they go out to a family.
We love working with community partners.
Together, we can combat food insecurity.
